texas crap

Shirt: LOFT
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Banana Republic

Can someone please just answer one question for me?
When the heck is Texas become worthy of 5 different reality TV shows?

I literally just turned on my TV to watch my normal crap TV line up: jersey crap, new york crap, swamp crap, pawn crap, storage crap .... but now I have to add TEXAS crap to the list. I REALLY DON'T need a TV show (or 5) to show me who is Dallas's most eligible, how Texas beauty queens prepare for a pageant (I lived with a Mississippi pageant queen all through college), or how mothers in the Lone Star state bribe their children with boob jobs to get good grades (my mom is from Texas - no boob job here - she must have been sick on the day they learned that in school) ..... But I'll watch it anyway.

I'm nothing if not committed to my crap TV line up. Especially crap TV with state names.

im blue

Dress: LOFT
Sweater: Gap
Purse: Kate Spade
Shoes: Target
Sunglasses: Ray Ban

I'm BLUE ba da ba be da ba da!

I have managed to wear a BLUE dress EVERY single day this week! how's that for impressive? Just to switch things up - I added my pink sweater in an attempt to "brighten things up."

*Still no peanut gallery comments, but like i said it usually takes 3 times and this is only time number 2. I'll give it another wear before I start swearing off cheesy animal prints altogether.

I have to say that if every week began on a Wednesday, ended on a Friday, and only consisted of 3 working days .. I may actually be able to handle this whole "work" thing. 3 days is just perfect, not too much that you get overwhelmed and tired, and not too little that you don't feel as if you didn't accomplish anything.

Needless to say, my 3 day work week still required a happy hour (or 2).

it happened.

Shirt: old nasty (aka Old Navy)
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Target

It's finally happened.
Exactly what I knew would happen the moment I found out we would be moving into my pre-school office.

I'm sick.

Sore throat, runny rose, sore throat, sore throat, sore throat kinda sick. And as far as I'm concerned that's the worst kind.

I mean there are probably other contributing factors to my sickness .. like maybe a lack of sleep. But I'm one of those "put all your eggs into one basket" kinda girls - and well - I prefer to blame todays sickness (and everything else that sucks) on pre-school.

So on my way into work this morning in an obvious attempt to be even later than normal I stopped into Publix and stocked up on everything a sick person should eat to try and get better:

  • Naked Juice (NOT Red Machine, b/c as I've mentioned before - my Publix has apparently decided to  stop carrying the best juice known to man kind)
  • EmergenC
  • Bananas
  • Simply Orange Juice
  • Cough drops
  • Blueberry muffins (b/c they were on sale & they're my fav)

$22 dollars later I should start feeling better in no time!

In other news: Remy still hates me. I didn't take him to the dog park, instead opting to give him a bath. yea. NOT his idea of a good time.

... just lazy.

Shirt / Shoes: Target
Sweater: Jcrew
Skirt: Gap

Hello stylish friends - long time no post (I'll take the blame for that one)!

Disclaimer: This is the I wore yesterday but was too lazy to post. You can call me a lot of things, but a liar is not one of them :)

So when I ordered this skirt a few months ago I was obsessed with it ... but apparently obsession and wearing are 2 different things. Every time I put this skirt on I'm inevitably 30+ minutes late(r) to work .. I have the HARDEST time pairing it with tops and figuring out which shoes to wear ... and then as soon as I get to work I decide I hate my outfit and immediately want to go home for a wardrobe intervention. It was also a bad choice of outfits for me to wear because I had to move into the pre-school yesterday and well... getting under tables to plug all your teenage electronics in is not best practice while wearing a skirt.

I want to tell you all about my weekend, but it's Tuesday - and I feel like I'm a day late and a dollar short to be explaining events that feel like they occurred 10 years ago! so I wont. Please just know that my first Judy Levitz day celebration was a total drunkin' success.

Office Update: As I mentioned above, I have officially been relocated into the pre-school section of my office. Complete with a white board and desks with no dividers .. however, I'm still in the process of organizing my petition for nap time. To make my pre-school transition complete I've been having John drop me off in the mornings and make me lunches in the afternoon. I'm still trying to gauge when it will be appropriate to ask for snack time and colored pencils. I'm picking my battles.

trapper keeper.

Shirt: Gap
Shoes: Tory Burch

I took these pictures today just to prove to you all how wardrobe-lazy I have become.

2 day old curly hair - check.
Dirty skirt - check.
Shirt tucked in (because of the giant soy sauce stain) - check.
Flats - don't even get me started. (read this to know why)

I'm pretty sure to ramp up my work's "pre-school looking" new "work space" they have decided to add Physical Education to our daily curriculum by making us park our cars a solid ten minute walk away from the office. cute.

So it's T-minus 2 days and counting until the dreaded "move" of 2011.
I called my mom today to discuss the possibility of getting a Barbie car (preferably the Hummer model) in the next few days.

Me: Mom, I'm going to need a Barbie car.
Mom: We had this conversation 20 years ago. no.
Me: I know but now I realllllly need one now, they're like a status symbol.
Mom: I didn't agree with them then. I don't agree with them now. walk.
Me: Urghh... can you at least write me a note saying that I have some sort of sickness that requires me to nap from 12-1?
Mom: maybe.

I'll keep working on that argument, I should at the least be able to squeeze out a sympathy Razor scooter or maybe a bike helmet. I've already explained to John (in detail) the new Trapper-Keeper I want, he said he might "spring" and get me some safety scissors to put into my Lisa Frank pencil holder.

I'm livin' the dream.

Just thought ya'll may need a good laugh - enjoy:)

Rabbit Rabbit

Jeans: Gap
Headband: Jcrew
Shoes: Tory Burch

Rabbit Rabbit: It's what my college roommate and I race to tell each other on the 1st of every month - the first person to say it has good luck for the month. I lost this month.

I think my taste buds are maturing. I'm scared.

I've gone my entire life hating:
Olives
Asian food (except I like sushi without raw stuff)
White cream sauce ie: chicken alfredo
Apple pie (yes, for real)
Strawberries
Watermelon
Ginger

Now all of the sudden the stuff I threw temper tantrums and got grounded over in elementary school are kinda starting to taste alright.

urgh. I finally become old enough to move out, grocery shop on my own, and make my own meal decisions and now I decide to quit being a picky eater!?! W.T.F.

I guess my stomach finally caught up with the food budget. CHEAP.

minimal redneck

Shirt: Target
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Cole Haan

What the heck Blogger?
I get myself all pumped up to post, I start figuring out what I'm going to talk about, who I'm going to make fun of and then BAM "Temporary Error" ... what kind of crap is that!??!

You will forever have to wonder what funny things happened to me that day and what stupid things my "family" aka Rem-Rod and John put me through. You have Blogger to thank for your loss my friends. Dang technology.

ANYWAY - due to the epic "temporary error" the outfit pictured above is old. I'm not sure how I feel about the final result of this getup. There was a tear in the right sleeve of this shirt, so last minute I decided to hone my sewing skills and use my newly bought scissors to to cut both sleeves off this shirt. In an attempt to not look like a complete redneck in a cutoff sleeveless shirt I paired it with this crochet shrug to soften the "redneck-ness" ... what do you think?

Today was a fantastically lazy Saturday.

Dog park - check
Pool (complete with lightening and thunder) - check
Movie (with popcorn of course) - check
Olive Garden (Nothin' bus classy) - check
Lock Up Marathon - currently taking place

PS: Yes, I got hightlights.

choking on toothpaste

Shirt (originally a dress): Banana Republic
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Target

Today's outfit is a perfect example of complete laziness.
surprise. surprise.

I woke up hot. Why you might ask?
Because our AC decided to freeze over making the temperature of my midget mansion a balmy 86 degrees this morning. Pair unexpected morning sweat with my he-man sweat ball of a boyfriend and a cold shower and the result is pictured above. a (literal) HOT mess. I don't think I have ever been more excited to get to work in my entire life.

Fast forward 9 hours and now my house is hot AND smells like fire. Why you might ask?
Some genius (not naming any name .. cough... cough.. JOHN) had the brilliant idea to lean my hairdryer against the AC unit while running to blow on to the ice continuously. Needless to say my hair dryer is now broken.

I would also like to use this post as a public service announcement:
DO NOT INHALE (though your mouth) TOOTHPASTE.

Last night while brushing my teeth AND having a conversation with John I made the mistake of trying to catch the dripping-from-my-mouth toothpaste by sucking it in. NEVER EVER DO THAT. It went straight to the back of my throat and choked me.

FYI: Choking on toothpaste can only be compared to taking a shot of 151 and then chasing it with gasoline. It was absolutely horrible. I contemplated calling 911 and asking them to remove my throat but decided to forgo the call to the hospital (for obvious reasons) and instead sucked on ice (since I couldn't swallow) like a woman in labor.

I may never brush my teeth again.
It was that bad.

23 year old temper tantrum

Skirt: GAP
Shoes: Cole Haan
Belt: Target

I walked out of the bedroom this morning and was met with "I like that (outfit)" from John. SOLD. The chances of getting a (positive) outfit comment from John are about as slim as squeezing water from a rock. It may not have been my first choice, but with a comment like that from the normally mute peanut gallery, it had to be worn.

So this may or may not be a brief post.
I don't want to set any expectations.

Today I was informed I have to move offices. strike that.
Today I was informed that I have to move from my cube to a shared office space, the size of 2 cubes, that I will share with 4 other people. Recap: I will be sharing one office, the size of 2 cubes, with 5 people. wtf. Today I also realized that the desk I am listed to move to (in my party of 5 office) actually does not exist. Apparently I am the first person to figure this out? I'll keep you posted.

With that said, I spent a majority of my day cleaning out my office, purging papers, and catching up on the stuff my brain couldn't handle on Friday after being overwhelmed by the Royal Wedding festivities.

I checked out Target's new Calypso line this weekend and I have to admit I'm not super impressed. I thought for sure the line would have tons of beachy, flowy, loose dresses. not so much. The dresses all kinda looked the same (all 2 of them) and seemed to be better suited for the office, not the beach. I did leave with a pair of shoes from the Calypso line that will be perfect to wear with beach dresses for my upcoming Key West vacation :)

My new Calypso shoes from Target:

I apologize for the Monday dullness ... I think I'm having a bit of a 23 year old temper tantrum over the office situation.

Here is a pic from the weekend. Oh yea, I forgot to mention I bought a Rolls Royce.

I kid.. I kid ;)

i love k _ _ _ _ ?

Shirt: Gap
Tank: Target
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Nine West

I bought this shirt a few weeks ago at the Gap when all their tops were 50% off AND I had a $20 dollar off Gap rewards card. Basically, the Gap got robbed that day. I was able to walk out with this $50 shirt for a cool $6 bucks. bring it on Gap.

A very weird thing happened today. I think some would even consider what happened a revelation of sorts. An epiphany might be pushing the envelope a little much, but none the less I came to a realization.

Kmart is cool. It dawned on me as I was roaming the aisles looking for a slip (finally) .... that I could actually see myself wearing some of the clothing in their womens and juniors sections. Yes, I did ask myself if my one glass of wine had somehow gotten my drunk, if my cheapness had reached an all new low, and if maybe I had walked into the wrong store?
Answers: No, maybe, and no.
I was very surprised to see magazine worthy maxi dresses, Jcrew(ish) looking bathing suits, super cute bathing suit cover-ups, and more importantly .... CHEAP slips!
Once you get over the fact that you are shopping in Kmart - there is an endless world of clothing possibilities.

Who knows what's next... Wal Mart? Crazier things have happened.

Here's a few of my Kmart favorites - eat your heart out Anthropologie. you've got some stiff competition.

(You can weigh in and rate these kmart gems over at Outfitchec.com)

the white truth

Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Payless

I think it's also pretty lame (of me) that I have worn this shirt COUNTLESS times ... in fact this may very well be one of my favorite tops ... and ya'll have never had the (wonderful) opportunity to see it! I'm not sure why whenever I wear this top I forget to take outfit pictures, but I'm pretty sure it's because subconciously I don't really want you to know how much I actually wear this gem.

I have a question for you - how do we feel about white denim? In all honesty? Gap, Jcrew, and LOFT are saturating their websites with these questionable clothing items and I'm just not sure which side of the fence I fall on when it comes to these purely whites.
I posted them to my website, Outfitchec.com this evening, but the jury is still out. Log on and rate them!

Today is the day ... drum roll please ... THE VOICE!!
I fell victim to NBC's relentless advertising and actually found myself re-arranging my Tuesday night TV schedule to see see what all the hype was about. I'll just go ahead and admit it: I'm lame.

In other news, I had a WONDERFUL meeting today with a fellow Orlando blogger and a lover of all things pretty, Miss Mary, the creator of the beautiful design blog Olivet. Together we have brainstormed some pretty big ideas that  I think ya'll are really going to like :) No beans are spilling out of my bag .. you will just have to keep checking in to see what we have up our (always adorable) sleeves!

excessive duplication

Yes people. I am OBSESSED with this shirt.
A few weeks ago I was told by someone that they love to read my blog, but squeezed in the fact that my outfits all kind of look the same.

great ... someone actually verbalized my biggest fear. I have been found out. i DO wear the same stuff all.the.time.

But why switch things up when you know they work? Is there really a problem with repeating outfits?

I try to wear a variety of styles, my closet practically throws up on me every morning, begging me to pull stuff out of the archives and give it a go... but it all comes down to the basic facts that I am a curvy girl that tries very hard to excentuate the small, minimize the large and find a happy (diverse) medium between the two. it's a challenge.

But believe me when I say that I completely understand that I am not the only girl that experiences body insecurities. Growing up in a house with all sisters and my mom (my dad was there too, but lets face it, he was out numbered from the start) body issues were just as normal a conversation as who got voted off Dancing With The Stars. Let me just put it out there: my sisters and I could not look less alike if we tired. People always wanted to know why we didn't fit the normal sister "look-alike" profile. Fortunately because of these experiences and growing up with my "non-look-alike" sisters, I learned from an early age that just because we may think that someone has a desirable body-type doesn't mean that they feel the same way about themselves.

Long story short (well i guess it's already long..sorry) body image has been a huge struggle for me throughout my life. Finding clothing that not only fits me, but that I feel comfortable, and pretty in is always a challenge. So when I succeed, I duplicate. Maybe in excess. I apologize.

With (all) that said, todays outfit is a perfect example of excessive duplication. eh. I love it anyway.

happy feet / bad dog

I'm about an inch away from putting Mr. Remy's leash on him and taking him on a little field trip to the Orange County Humane Society to let him realize how good he has it.

Between running INTO the UPS man's truck while he was stopped at the people next door's house, tipping over the kitchen trash can and spreading garbage from my kitchen to China, peeing in his crate, throwing up on the couch, and last but not least BOLTING out my front door and hauling butt to the end of the street and forcing me to chase him in 3-inch heels. Today was not his day.

It's high time to shape up or ship our Rem-Rod.

Moving on to more exciting topics ... I LOVE MY NEW SHOES!!
Payless you have made my feet smile :)
These definitely pushed me out of my "office cool but still young" comfort zone. But in a good way. They were beyond comfortable and even though I didn't receive any shoe-praise today from my co-workers, the smile they put on my face every time I looked down at my feet made it feel a little bit like Christmas all day long :) Highly recommended.

I'm glad my shoes made me happy, because this outfit was just "blah." Yes, "BLAH" is an adjective now. However, as you may or may not have noticed... I'm wearing DENIM (again) in the form of a shirt. I guess you could say I was pushin' my outfit comfort zones all day.

call me Cash

Tonight is not the night for long blog posts ... since I have a lot to do. And by a lot to do I mean watch Dancing with the Stars (team Kendra), The Biggest Loser, and the season finale of Teen Mom - geez Tuesday nights are busy!

So enjoy my Johnny Cash outfit and I'll catch up with ya'll on on the flip side (meaning tomorrow when there is nothing good on TV).

I had trouble choosing shoes to wear with this Cash-esqe outfit - tell me which ones you prefer:)

ulta-tastic

What do you think about my new background? I'm kind of on the fence about it, so tell me the truth.

It rained today. And if Al Roker (my least favorite of the TODAY show crew) is telling the truth, it's going to be raining tomorrow, the next day, the next day, and the next day. If that's not reason enough to buck up and buy a pair of non-offensive (no pattern) rain boots, I'm not sure what is. However, until I buy aforementioned rain boots, I decided today that I will be sporting my ever-so-classy crocs. I'll be sure to plan my outfits accordingly.

It's so hard to be positive on a rainy Monday. I have a hard enough time being positive ANY monday, but rain makes the positivity flow rough.

People you would be proud. I walked into Menchie's today and DIDN'T get ANY frozen yogurt! Now if only I could be that iron-fisted about not spending money, drinking, eating taco bell, and watching teen mom. eh, I choose my battles. But even more exciting than NOT eating Menchie's (which actually wasn't that hard because they didn't have any of the flavors I like) I went to Ulta for the very first time today - and I can tell you already that store will soon become a giant issue for John, my debit card, and my pride. How I've lived here for almost a year, 3 blocks from my mother ship of makeup is beyond me. I'm ashamed of myself.

I'm also ashamed of my unoriginal, uncreative outfit.
But get used to it - it's raining for the next week and well, it makes getting out of bed just that much worse.

On the subject of Teen Mom (kind of on subject, i mentioned it in this post already. keep up with me) As you may or may not know, I am obsessed with all things super trash tv, and Teen Mom is no exception, in fact it may be my favorite train wreck of all of them. So you can imagine my excitement tday when i opened up my yahoo news to see my all time favorite trailer trash princess, Janelle's mugshot in the center of my screen (by far her best close-up yet). MTV sure does know how to pick 'em:)
